Dehradun: People‘s poet Dr. Atul Sharma released the new album of eminent
Uttarakhandi folk singer Narendra Singh Negi at a function held in Dehradun on
2nd June. Dedicated to the social activist Anna Hazare. Negi’s latest album “Ab Kathga Khailo’ makes a sharp attack on rapidly spreading corruption in the country.

A presentation of the Himalayan Films, the title song highlights corruption that has taken place in hill State and at the national level. The title song ‘Commission Ki Meet-Bhaat’ is a satire on the functioning of top brass of the Uttarakhand Government involved in
making money through commission. Right from Maha Kumbh-2011 and Sturdia land
scam all figure in the song. The folk singer also makes a sharp attack on the supporters of political leaders acting as agents. ‘Machu Pani Paindu’ is the second song on corruption in the album and it points at lower office level corruption.

Commenting on his new album, folk singer Narendra Negi said, “Corruption is a menace. With time this monster is growing and in the present time it is the biggest issue in India and the response to the social activist Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement clearly
proved this. So, I have included two songs on corruption in this album.”

Another attraction of the album is a duet by father and son. Narendra Negi’s son Kabilas Negi (an MBA Graduate) makes a debut. The father-son has teamed up for the first time to sing ‘Apuru See Dikandu Che’, a song on highlanders preferring to call themselves native of Dehradun rather than the hills. The psychology of many young Uttarakhandi who hate being called a ‘Pahadi’ is minutely captured in the song. ‘Mayadar’ is a sufi song, while ‘Rupako Jadu’ and ‘Main Tho Suni Tera Gaon Maa’ are the two love songs in the album.

Mohan Lakhera, Director of Himalayan Films, expressed hope that alike Negi’s last two albums (Mayako Mundaro and Salanya Syali), the music fans will appreciate the new album. The Himalayan Films is committed for the promotion of the hill folk and we will
continue our endeavor.”
